Default driver front power window woes

Well it's getting hotter here in a Ohio and I currently have no A/C in my Accord and 3 of the 4 windows don't work. My 1st priority is to fix the drivers window for obvious reasons (always opening door for drive thru, bank, etc.)

Currently, the drivers window will roll down and roll up but 1/2 way or so I assume the motor starts grinding. It wasn't working much at all and I took the panel off a few weeks back and greased the regulator track/gear and sprayed silicone on the channels. It worked for 2 weeks and then started making the grinding noise in spots.

I just wanted to confirm, is that a weak motor? I saw some regulator/motor combo's on Ebay for 55 bucks. Is that all I need to get fixed up?

any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Has anyone tried the ebay motor/regulators off of Ebay instead of paying the full price for an OEM unit?

I blew $200 having a trusted repair facility replace my DS unit, only to find it on e-bay for about $40 a few months later. In my '99 Accord EX it's a one-piece unit; haven't tried e-bay's part but would not hesitate to do so.

I have the same problem, and I am thinking of trying the ebay parts also.

Bought a 92 EX Drivers Regulator on Ebay and it worked fine. I generally find most of the aftermarket simple replacement parts off ebay to be fine. Rad Fan, Condensor Fan, Regulators, Ignition Switch, Motor Mounts, etc... All have been fine.

ah cool, went ahead and got one today off of Ebay. Hope it works good. This is a very good car. I got my CD player installed so where off to a good start to get it into enjoyable daily driving. I'll leave the weekends and track days to my mustang!

Thanks for the replies

I had one where the run channel was damaged causing the top corner to go deeper into it and stuck half-way. This also damaged the regulator track. So before you go and buy another part, please make sure you dont over look this. If you do decide to but another run channel apply some shinetsu grease that will help it glide.

werd, I'll check that out when I go to change the motor/regulator. I had the panel off 2 months ago when I greased everything and I didn't notice any hanging.

I bought one of the eBay units...it was trash. Died after three days. Luckily the seller gave me a full refund. I'd drop the cash for the OEM unit.

Just grab the window motor from a junkyard for $15 bucks. That's what I did. If you want, you can pull the existing motor apart and try cleaning the contacts.

Well the ebay unit has been working for about a week now. Nice to have a window again! It's not completely right just yet though, the window channel at the bottom is hanging the window up and trying to pull it out of the channel if I roll it all the way down.

Thanks for the help everyone! Now I just need to move on to both rear windows and replace the regulator/motor.
