Do anyone know where the fuel filter is on a 98 accord 2.3?
I am thinking of replacing my fuel filter and pcv valve because my car is getting really bad gas mileage, and I think its about time to replace them. I heard from somewhere that the fuel filter is in the gas tank, is that true? Is this a DIY? Can someone please help me? Pics would be a plus. Thanks

there is no engine bay fuel filter on a 98-02 accord.
the only filter is in the tank, it's the screen on the pump, and it does not need to be changed.

So what is the best way to clean my fuel system then since you fuel filter is non-replaceable? Do I just pour in the fuel system cleaner into the gas tank?

There's a pickup screen and also in the top of the pump housing itself is is the filter. It doesn't need to be changed unless it clogged up.

Previous posts are correct, the 98's started the trend of non replaceable fuel filters. They are in the tank. The previous gen was located under the master area, as previously stated.

It replaceable, just a little tougher to do so. (and more expensive)

By replaceable i meant durring "regular service" Of course you can replace almost any part, but it's not designed to be replaced like the older models...

The only filter is in the trunk/tank, there's no filter in the engine bay.
The filter in the tank is a plastic mesh that would only filter out sands, which is pretty useless. they are replaceable and snap right on.
I would just take it out and wash it with gas.

The main pump housing has an integrated filter in it. More than just the sock.

Here is one that shows a filter set for the tank. Is it a good idea to replace this one, if so, how hard would it be to replace? Thanks

It doesnt need to be replaced unless it's causing a problem. It should be good for the life of the car.

There is the charcoal canister filter, but that is for the main charcoal canister/EVAP system. #9 in the first image. It is not a fuel filter, it may have fuel in it if the EVAP system has flooded but it is not the fuel filter
In the second image, if you follow the fuel lines, one small one goes to the canister, the other two are the feed/return lines that are connected via two quick disconnects, and those two lines continue up to the tank. From my understanding the actual fuel filter is part of the pickup assembly(#1) in the tank and is not a readily replaceable unit.
