cv axle in all the way?
I just replaced a CV axle on my 92 accord and am kind of concerned whether its shaft got inserted far enough into the tranny. I think I kind of felt it click in there when I pushed it in but not really certain. I'd say there's a good 1/8" to 3/16" inch gap. I took a look at the other side for comparison; there's a similar gap there almost seems like the new gap might be a hair wider so maybe it didn't go in all the way. I took pictures; the first one is the other halfshaft insertion gap and the second one is the gap with the newly installed one. I'd really rather not have to pull the newly installed one out again and start over if it seems with a good degree of certainty (from those here who've done this more often) that it's in there fine.

Mine is the same way, you should be fine. One side seemed further in but I think its just the way Honda made transmissions... Or its the gasket that is causing it... Just check your tranny fluid see if its leaking every gas stop... and your oil.

Ok good. Thanks for the reply Mishako129. I'm reassured that it'll be fine then, and will just keep an eye out for any leaking as suggested.

Easy way to check is to just pull on it with your hand. If it easily slides out then it was not seated, if there is no way it is coming out, then it is.

It'll probably be fine. I think mine is the same way.

Not quite.
Since the inner cup allows for the axle length to change during travel, it will be at its maximum length with the front suspension in droop. IOTW jack up the front of the car til the wheels are off the ground.
The suction/stiction of the grease alone would pull the inner joint out if it was not fully seated. Place jack stands under the car and crawl underneath. Grab the cup with your hand, if you can pull it out it was either not fully seated or the circlip has lost its spring tension and needs to be replaced. If it doesn't come out then it is seated.
No need to pull the suspension apart.

Re: cv axle in all the way?
I still have the front end of the car on jackstands, so it was quick and easy to do the check as you described (quoted above). Didn't come out, so I'm good to go. Thanks
