Cruise control clutch pedal switch adjustment?
Hi everyone,
New user to this forum. I have a 2002 Accord EX, 4-cylinder 5-speed manual, about 204K on the clock. About a month ago, I had the clutch replaced, and the shop adjusted the pedal. I recently tried to use the cruise control, and it wouldn't work. (Main switch goes on, but the cruise wouldn't engage.) After doing some research, I suspected the clutch pedal switch. When I look at it, the pin sticks out about a quarter inch or so when the clutch pedal is fully out. I used a few layers of double-sided sticky tape to make the "pad" that the pin hits taller, to see if having the pin go in farther would allow the cruise control to work. Got up to 45, hit the button, Bam, cruise control!
I've found a lot of information about *what* the problem is, and I know what the problem is, but haven't found anything about how to actually *fix* it. There appears to be some sort of assembly above the pedal, to which the cruise and starter switches are attached, with a nut on it that might be able to come loose and allow for some pivoting of the switches. But I can't get the darn thing loose. Am I looking in the right place? Or is there another way I can fix this without having to take it back to the shop and wait a long time?
Thanks!

Re: Cruise control clutch pedal switch adjustment?
There's a lock nut on the switch. You need to loosen that and then either turn the switch out or in. Can't remember at the moment. Then lock it up again.

Re: Cruise control clutch pedal switch adjustment?
Hi,
Thanks for the response! I figured out the lock nut thing last Thursday evening, and my cruise control is working again, yay!! I forgot to come back here and let you know that I had gotten it going again. The hardest part was getting the electrical connector out of the switch before spinning it around. Getting 2 hands up in there when twisted around half on your side is difficult!
