Default Crankshaft pulley bolt

The bolt on my '91 LX will not tighten. I think the belts were too tight and wallered (?) out the bolt hole. The bolt looks fine but I can't see the crank hole. I'm needing to sell this car so I don't want to sink any more money than I need too. However, I don't want to sell the car and have it break down as it drives off. Any suggestions?

I'm going to assume the threads are at least slightly stripped. Which is why it won't catch to tighten.

it wont tighten?

your saying you put it in the thread hole and it just keeps spinning?

or are you saying that the bolt seems too short and doesn't reach the threads?

just keeps spinning. Feels like it catches ever so slightly then spins.

Your pulley probably needs to be pushed on further. Take the pulley off first and see if the bolt will thread on.

Let's say they are stripped out. What options do I have?

They sell, and i have used a helicoil kit, i think it if for a ford cylinder head spark plug(Check the thread pitch and size of crank bolt). It comes with a tool, which you will use to drill the hole out, then screw in the helicoil, and then you will be able to tighten the bolt down to 182Ft/Lbs

You could always confirm that the threads are in fact bad before moving onto other options.
