Can I use a 1991 Honda Accord EX ECU in my 1990 Accord EX?

They look different from each other;

the 1990 has 2 windows that I assume is for reading codes.

the 1991 does not have these 2 windows.

can i swap them or will it not work?

my 1990 Accord is F22a4 but I'm not sure what the 1991 ex was either f22a6 or f22a4?

1990 might be OBD0, as I recall some '90 - 91 Accords are OBD0, some are OBD1.

Actually I just took the 1990 ecu out and it said PT3 the same as the 91 ECU said PT3 so I swapped them and nothing was different car ran the same. no problems.....yet!

Assuming you don't have a wagon, they will be the same.

actually no they are not the same!


my 1990 ex has a different ecu than a 1991 ex dont care what anyone says it looks different and I didnt pass smog in ca because of it

Sorry, CA smog testing is not something I'm use to. Why did they fail you, seems that part was left out. Did they actually go to the ECU and get the number off of it, was there a stored code.

Like I said in my previous post, if one of them is the wagon they will not use the same ecu, the '91 must have been from a wagon EX which is the F22A6.
