whoa, cool it on the caps lock..

yeah, have a manual handy being your first time. reduces the chance of mistakes. you don't want mistakes on a brake job .

be sure to lube the slides and clean everything well before reassembly. inspect all the rubber boots. "condition" them with silicon spray if you'd like. double check everything. get extra brake-parts cleaner and use liberally.

Check your rotors to see if they need replacing while you are there... easier to get it all done at once.. same goes for bleeding the brakes and getting some new fluid in..

i dunno mang on my 98 LX V6 my oriiginal pads were still on the fronts at 100K and the rears were changed at 90K

Good - (normal use) Pretty much anything from a major parts chain.

Better - (some hard, frequent braking) Centric Posi-quiet ceramic $24.32 on discountbrakes.com

Best - (Heavy use) EBC green, Hawk HPS line, Performance Friction (I know, but they ARE good pads)

Don't buy heavy use pads if you don't do any hard-core braking. They will tend to wear rotors faster than the others and are only necessary if you are getting fade from oem pads.

And since we're on the subject, don't ever buy cross-drilled rotors. They are unecessary and will crack unless you get a brand that is retarded expensive. If you want something better, get slotted. Can be found for around $40 each for our cars.
