Default Code 401 2000 Accord EX V6

Ok gang I need a hand here... My 2000 Accord EX V6 "Check Engine Light" is on. The basic diagnostic indicated "code 401". I'm told this related to the EGR system. Can anybody tell me where to go from there? Is this a common problem? I don't feel like paying this guy another 2 hrs. labor to dig deeper!

BTW... The engine is completely stock.

Thanks,
John

yes this a common problem with the v6 accords and odissey's for your year accord you have to install a pipe and replace the egr valve as stated in the TSB from honda you will have to drill the manifold to accomadate the pipe, this will increase the exhaust recirculation flow to the intake since yours is partially clogged or completely clogged. you can go to a honda dealer and tell them that you have a DTC P0401 insufficient egr flow and to perform the repair or you can do it yourself and save money. this type of job usually cost about $240-260 plus parts depending on the hourly labor.. if your accord has less than 80k miles your're in luck you can get this done free of charge due to the extended warranty for the EGR clogging only.
