1992 Honda Accord LX wagon Battery upgrade from OEM 35 series 500CCA's to 24 series
For the upgrade to.24 series, from 35 series battery for my 1992 Honda Accord LX wagon, the only batteries available in the 24 series, with 700 CCA's instead of the OEM 35 series with only 500 CCA's , the positive and ground poles are reversed. Can I install the new battery backwards, turn it 180°, which will probably need a longer ground wire, I need a 4 Guage, instead of 2 Guage, anyway. Other ideas appreciated. Guess the Coronavirus has caused a battery shortage!I went 3 places, and all said they had my battery, online, but didn't, so you can't count on online inventory. Interstate battery isn't even making the 24 series, anymore! Thanks, foxyhondagal

Yes you can do any of the above, replace it with a longer wire, flip the battery around, etc. I had to do this at one time, I had a Yellow top Optima battery that was available, so like you said, got a larger cable/wire and flipped the batter around, I even had to bend the bottom of the battery holder because the battery was bigger than the platform the battery sits on. I also had to get longer battery tie downs in my case. But it worked for years. I would think it's much easier to get a 4 gauge cable than the right battery at this time.
In another case for a completely different reason (we were baja racing in Mexico), I had a battery failure, the new battery was different post locations, and we couldn't get a cable, so I just bought jumper cables and cut the ends off to give me the wires and cable I needed to reach to the right locations.
