My 94 Accord LX has a clicking (clacking?) noise coming from the right front tire. It only happens when I am turning right, and about 75% of the time.

That driveshaft was replaced about 2 years ago because it was making the same noise, but it had a cracked boot and was pretty worn. I checked the cv boot on this one, and it's in good condition.

I read that someone had the same problem, and they figured that it was worn engine mounts allowing the engine to move when he was turning. Aside from that, does anyone have any other ideas to what it might be?

Could be your bushings, they can break off or just crack and fall off.

Or, your other side could have ripped?

I checked the other side and it looks like it is in good condition also, no cracks on the boot.

Bushings on the .. I don't know the name for it but it's by the front control arm area.

They can fall off.

I think I know what you are talking about, I checked those, and they are just fine. It only makes the noise when I am driving and turning right.

I am re-doing the suspension, ball joints, control arms, and tie rod ends along with all the bushings, I want to make sure that if it's something else besides that, I will know what to fix so I only have to do this once.

That noise is almost always associated with a bad CV joint. Even if the boot is good the Joint can still go bad.

Did you replace the entire CV shaft or just the joint last time you had this fixed?

The whole shaft was replaced. Also, it sometimes sounds like it is loose. When I am driving and hit a bump, I can hear a slight clank noise, like something is loose, but I jacked up the car and nothing seems to be loose or out of place.

I second ghost. These reman axles that you get from your local car parts store are mass reman'd....you're not getting a "good as new" axle. Most of the time they way over machine the cans (they machine the whole lot to the worst one)...and they machine through the case hardening. More or less these commercially widely avail. remans are done half-***...remember, they reman hundreds if not thousands of these things at a time, so they are concerned with time and money, not precision. So it's quite possible that even though you replaced it 2 years ago, it's bad again. The best bet is to find a local rebuilder that really knows what he is doing and cares about his work. I used Gator Racing Axles in Orlando, FL and couldn't be happier with their work....they let me stand right there and watch them while they were doing their work.

You can check for a loose mount by pushing the car in gear and watching each one.

It's probably a bad axle though.

that has happened to my passenger side replaced the whole halfshaft 3 times with in a year and it ended up that the axials wasn tightned up enough and they was just working loose over time they tightened it up and it stopped the noise all together but now the driver side is doing it
if u dont get it looked at soon it will get worse and sound like its grinding

If you replaced the entire shaft with a remanufactured axle. I would put money on it being the source of your click. The shop that I used to work at years ago always tried to convince people to get a new shaft vs a reman because we ran into to many problems with the remans. They should last longer than two years but it's hit and miss depending on the supplier.

Not hard to replace if you have your entire suspension ripped apart already. Call the shop that installed your axle two years ago and see if there is any type of warranty on it.... Ya never know, it's worth a try. Good luck.

So lets say I keep the axle, and re-do all the suspension and bushings and the axle stops making that noise, can I just leave it. If it is making the noise does that mean it's now bad and I should replace it either way? Like I said before it only makes the noise halfway through a turn, and it doesn't do it at low speeds, so I would think the axle isn't in very bad shape, but I don't know much about those, so maybe I need to replace it either way. Would a wheel bearing make that noise? If it's a bearing can it be repacked or does it need to be replaced, it's got about 95,000 miles on it. Thanks for the help.

Putting axles in it is a helluva lot cheaper and less painful than replacing every part in your suspension. Like ghost said, these noises are almost always an axle.
Unless there is something actually wrong with your suspension (play, bad bushings etc) I wouldn't touch it. If it ain't broke.....

Worse case scenario, I'd rather put axles in it and if it's still making noise, start looking for something else rather than overhaul my entire suspension only to find out it's axles...

The suspension does need to be re-done. All the bushings are cracked or broken, and the ball joints are shot. That's why I want to find out about the axle, if I'm going to have everything off anyway, I'll change the axle if I need to, but if not, I'd rather leave it.

Well I guess you can play it that way since you're going to overhaul your suspension regardless. But a clicking that you describe only turning in a certain direction sure sounds like an axle. Wheel bearings [I]can</U> make a clicking sound but it would seem to me that it wouldn't be dependent turning.
