Icon3 Changed distributor, car wont start

my 99 accord started having problems when starting a while ago. For some time they went away but about 2 weeks ago it came back. I took the distributor cap off and cleaned the tip of the rotor as well as the 6 connectors for the spark plugs. it worked and my car was fine until today.
SO i just went and bought a whole new distributor, the whole thing, it was $300.
slapped it on and now it will not start, the engine keeps turning over. I sprayed starter fluid in the intake and it cycles through the engine as the starter moves it but it wont ignite it.
A friend told me that It might be something with a sensor since i had to disconnect the original distributor to take it to the store.
ideas?

Did you put the plug wires back in the right order for sure?

I mean if he hadn't put them on correct after doing this his car would have obliviously have been miss firing and had a rough idle and not run fine for a few days. Though that was a nice diagram if he had put them on wrong. You do need to start some where. Did you do anything else besides clean off the contact tips on the distributor?

- Did you read the OP's post and follow the order of events?

OP- You need to test for spark and be sure you are getting it to the plug(s). Answer that and we can go from there.

Check the lead. Check the rotor is working. It could be you also got a bad distributor?

I had a similar issue we changed the starter and distributor everything is correct with the spark wire order and had spark basically what happened was it cranks but there's no combustion. What had happened was a vapor lock had occurred and the fuel pump is apparently weak and needs to be changed soon, so with some starter in the intake it fired right up no issues now
