Default Catalytic converter & O2 Sensor Simulator

Hey Guys - "new member" here (just a few posts)

Honda Accord 2000 lx - F23A4 hence, ULEV VTEC - the previous owner told me that the catalytic converter was failing, so he replaced it with an aftermarket one, as you can imagine, now i have a CEL issue, since according to my ECU the cat is not working properly even though is almost new. I'm aware that the reason the CEL is on is due to the signal sent by the secondary O2 sensor, the sensor is also working properly, so basically the problem is that my car is not meeting the emissions regulations for what it was designed.

I've been evaluating my options, a new cat may cost $300-$600, so before jumping into conclusions, i was wondering if any of you had any experience with these O2 sensors simluators that theorically will sent the required signal by the ECU in order to eliminate the CEL -

Besides, de O2 simulators, a new cat, and obviously a new car, if anyone has any idea of how to fix this, please feel free to speak out, i'm in pain here - getting horrible gas mileage, and the performance is quite diferent.

Thx

you can get this fixed for $1.99

buy an 18mm spark plug defouler
drill out the small end with a 1/2" drill bit
put your 2nd o2 sensor into the defouler
screw the assembly back into the cat

whamo - no more CEL

I've been reading about this item, is somehow similiar, to what you described -

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1

do you think this will work?

...and the process that you pointed out, did it work for you?

thx

that is exactly the same thing I described in my post for 10x the cost. save your money and do what I suggested. yes it works for me and every other person I've done it for. I can pass my emissions check w/o a cat using the defouler trick.

lol that thing on ebay is the same thing notriousB described. the spark plug no fouler is like $3.99 at the auto parts store, then you drill it out as he said. I use it on my car to pass emissions every year w/ o a cat and it works great.

non-fouler, 18mm, they sell it in a pact of two, 1/2 drill bit

and secondary, you can't pass smog here with that, it only prevent the ecm from triggering the CEL but if there's no actual cat, there's no actual cleaning.
