Car wont start/key wont turn (either way)
Okay so my dad has a 1991 accord, 4 door, AT, f22.
Here's there story, On his way to work today he stopped at a store. When he came back out it acted like it didn't want to start. Well it turned over strong a few times and finally kicked over. He stopped the car to toss out the trash and when he put it in park there was a loud screeching (he described it as a belt screech). He then drove across the street and parked for work. Once there the key wouldn't turn off but it slid out of the ignition with no problem (it's never done that before). As long as the car was in drive or reverse everything was fine, but once again when it was put in park the loud screech came back. It still would not turn off. He eventually pulled (I assume the fuel injector relay/fuse) to get the car to cut off.
When I got there it wouldn't start, key wouldn't move. I tried cycling through the gears thinking maybe the shifter wasn't 100% lined up and therefore kept it from letting the key turn. Also when I reconnected the bat. cable the starter immediately engaged (no keys in car).
***Cliffs car wouldn't shut off, key wont turn, now that car is off when the positive bat. cable is touched to the terminal the starter engages.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

It could be the starter but the fact the key won't turn and came out puts me more to the ign switch, also when in gear (neutral safety) it did not try to start but in neutral or park it would. Pull the wire from the starter solenoid, connect the bat cable (theory being it will not try to start). Put a meter on the wire you just disconnected and see if it is hot. Also from there see if you have power to the normal circuts. Should help to narrow it down.

Ill take a look at it today, thank you.
I've also had someone say it could be the shift interlock sol. Anyone had that problem?

The interlock keeps you from shfting the car into gear if the brake pedal isn't pushed in. Now I haven't looked in the manuals but the interlock and the "old neutral safety switch" (not sure on hondas if it is even there or the true name) maybe one and the same on Honda's. That is why I'm going with the key, power should not be going to the starter sol....
Nice and hot there...I'll be visiting middle TN, about an hour west of Nashville, next weekend.
