maybe it could be your pcv valve its about time to change it if you havent .. its really simple also

..thats not my car but yea thats where its located.. inside of it it has a ball valve thing that might be making that slight clicking noise like a diesle would... just go to autozone or whatever part store is around and ask for a pcv valve for your car... then all you do is pull it out of the valve cover and diconnect it from your tube... then replace... i suggest when you do this get a lil oil on your finger from the old one and put that and the rubber seal of the new one and also where it plugs into the tube... that would give it a better seal...

check the valve clearance and timing of the motor, when was the last time you have it tuned?

your accord motor will never sounds like diesel, there's not enough compression to start the spark

do you by chance have an aftermarket cam in your ride...maybe the previous owner forgot he installed one and left it in for u to enjoy...that would make that sound also...yes, do adjust your valvesprings to the spec, that should quiet your engine regardless

Mine does, too, making a clatter remarkably similar to an old-style (or maybe Olds-style) passenger diesel or delivery truck diesel. The clattering occurs when I'm stopped, with my foot on the brake, and goes away when I shift to neutral. Embarasses the crap out of me in the drive-thru lane.

Like iam7head said, check timing and valve clearance.

I had this same problem. I couldn't figure it out. Finally I took it to my mechanic. It ended up being the timing belt. I had to get a whole new timing belt kit. Cost me 500 bucks.

I used to have a clicking in my old prelude... sounded like a damn sewing machine.

Got a valve adjustment but it did not help much and then a new belt tensioner... which solved most of the problem. Some of the noise I heard was the injectors and pcv clicking as well... which is normal.
