A/C compressor charging after vacuum proceedure, how to?
Thank you for your time to educate me.
After I hookup my A/C manifold and complete the vacuum process, how do I charge the compressor with freon? I cannot find the connection between the yellow maintenance hose and the refrigerant. I the youtube videos I see, the refrigerant is connected to the yellow hose to the A/C manifold.
The only hose connection I can find is low port to refrigerant. It appears after I complete the vacuum process using my A/C manifold, I have to disconnect the blue hose to the low port connection. Once the low port is available, then attach the low port hose connected to the refridgerant. My concern is once I disconnect the blue hose to the low port wont air get sucked in to the system because of the vacuum I just finished creating?
Please explain the steps after the vacuum is created using the A/C manifold.

The low port should stay connected to the low side>AC Gauge
Close the high side after vacuum. Keep it connected to your gauges to monitor the pressure.
The 3rd hose that connected to the vacuum from your A/C manifold gauge set should now be connected to the Freon. Hopefully you have a tap that connects the can to the hose.
Start car>open low side>and it should start charging.
You should here the compressor kick on.

Re: A/C compressor charging after vacuum proceedure, how to?
Hello, thank you.
That's just it, living in California, I cannot buy this tap valve that connects to the maintenance hose. California apparently will not allow us to buy them.
I called IDQ company. Supposedly, the proceedure for me is as follows
Once vacuum process is complete, disconnect both low and high ports.
The valve in the ports will not allow air into the system
Turn on my car and get it to normal operating temp
Connect my refrigerant with self sealing adapter to the low port
Charge system with refrigerant using the gauge on the hose connected to the refriegerant to monitor how much to inject.
Compressor should come on once I start to inject system with 1/2 a can of refrigerant.
Do not fill with more than two cans of refrigerant for this model year.
I will keep this post updated once I complete.
By the way, since California does not sell the tap valve at the store, I am forced to buy the adaptor and self sealing refrigerant can.
Cheers

You can buy the adapter, not at work right now but can get a part number for you. Sucks that in CA you have to deal with the "special" cans that have a core charge.....yet the state is going broke....hummm.....can't have lead wheel weights, gas cans cost twice as much as almost everywhere else, ect.
