Racepak Iq3 Datalogger Installed into cb7
As some may or may not know, I work for Haltech and I have become our tech guy for the new IQ3 dash that we carry. What better way to learn a product than to install and use it!
This is the Racepak IQ3 Datalogger with built in Haltech VNET module for CAN Communications. It has 512 mb of datalogging available on the provided micro sd card, internal gps, and internal 3 axis G meter.
The pics are of the 15 minute install I did after work today. I will be filling the void in the coming days, and making it look as clean as possible. All of my pillar gauges are going to take a hike.
I currently have it set to display RPM, GPS based Speed, AFR, Intake Air temp, Coolant temp, and Boost/Vacuum in PSI. Also, it has LED shift lights, set for 7000 rpms and staged in 300 rpm increments.
Questions, comments, smart remarks?

Very nice. How was the install? Are there any issues that a person looking to use this should be aware of? Will this work with any stand alone? These are the types of questions I would like to see answered that way this can be more helpful rather than just a picture thread.

Install was rather easy, as the haltech vnet module is built inside of the IQ3. I simply connected power, ground, and then from my Haltech E8 i hooked it up to the Can Hi and Can Lo outputs.
Issues some mights run into with this if it is a replacement dash are that you lose your gas gauge, turn signal indicators, and a few other simple things that if this car is a dd, you may or may not want to keep. However, racepak sells a sensor for fuel, so that could be gotten around. Apart from that, this is a very very nice unit that I have had a decent amount of hands on experience with. The software is pretty easy to use and the display on the unit is great. Whatever information the E8 is reading, it will send to the dash. If your ems is not getting receiving info you would like, you can use one of the Racepak VNET sensors, which are very easy to setup up and use, and are essentially plug and play sensors.
As for being compatible with other EMS, yes it is, but it requires that you have the VNET module for that specific EMS. With ours, the VNET module is built in, and if you were to buy one of the regular IQ3 dataloggers retail then the vnet module is purchased seperately. When you buy ours, it is built in and you get both. The display only dash that we carry also has the VNET module built in.
So, to answer your question, yes it does work with other EMS, but I do not know specifically all of them. I believe it also works with Electromotive systems, Autronic, and some others. This information should be available on their forums.
I will post up some more pics once I fill in the void.

Made a temp background out of aluminum today, set shift lights to 0 rpm as well just so they could be on display. The final light for the shift light isnt on, but works just fine when the car is actually on.

ha, she's lean! Look out for that trash can and shed too!
You going to be at the IA meet Mr. RedneckDave? I should be there too, so if you wanted to check it out in person you would be able to.
