Sometimes when I crank my car I am not able to put it into drive. When this happens I have also noticed that my brake lights are not working. Sometimes it goes into drive just fine other times I have to keep pusing the brakes. I just bought new brakes and a brake line. Does anyone know what this could be? I am getting ready to travel and don't want to get stranded on the highway.

ok does anyone know where my wire is that goes to the brakes maybe it is loose?

The brake light switch is located under the dash. You will see a plunger type switch that contacts the brake pedal arm.

Sounds like a fusr to me. It's for your reverse lights, will lock car in park. Had it happen to me a couple times. Try replacing it.

Sometimes I have to wait awhile after pressing the brake for me to be able to get it out of park. It is happenng more frequently. Where is this fuse located?

Before I had my auto to manual swap that happened everynow and then to me aswell. What I did was put my key in the shift lock hole by the shifter and pulled it out of park and put it in neutral and started it from there. I am not sure of the EXACT problem but that it was I did to get it out.

The best thing i would tell you to do is just convert to 5 speed

and your horn doesnt work huh? then its probably fuse #19 or 20 under your hood i cant remember exactly which one but its colsest to the front of the car.
