balance shaft or not to balance shaft
currently building a jspec h22a. i'm considering scrapping the balance shafts, to reduce parasitic drag. what I'm trying to find out is will that cause any oil sending or pressure issues. in behind the rear balance shaft gear housing are to oil orifices, but I'm sure they are there to just lubricate the gears. I know the car will idle rough-but I'm just going 1/4 mile, with only one light. and with a good crank balancing i could smoothen it out a little. i've ran the motor with the balance shaft belt off-and the oil pressure light didn't come on-but am I starving something? in particular the individual cylinder cooler squirters. any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: balance shaft or not to balance shaft (HONDADOCTOR)
You know what? I drove(hard) my race car on the road and nothing happened. And I have idled it for a very long time.... I also consulted my Honda technician friend and he said I will be ok. When I built the motor I also traced that the balancer shafts had nothing to do with the lubrication system.

Re: balance shaft or not to balance shaft (accordking)
hey thanks man-i kinda figured the same. just wanted to know for sure. so, did you leave the shafts in or remove them and plug the holes? did you get to dyno the differences or note the characteristics? i got my hands on a motec motec management system, considering scrapping defi and using it, but not real familiar with it-any suggestions? thanks

I left the shafts on place. But when I yank the motor out to redo my brake lines I will have my welder make me some plugs. Have not yet dynoed my car but will as soon I get my turbo in. To tell you the truth I know nothing about Motec. As soon as I get VERY proficient on SpeedPro I will definitely get my hands on the Motec M4.
