Re: aem cold air intake vs. aem short ram (Bishop Don A. Shizzle)
i heard that the aem is aimed away from teh engine bay so that it can get cooler air and the other one stays in the engine bay taking warm air. any body have any comment ? also i have an accord and that i heard that for my car, the cold air isn't worth it ?

yeah the cold air's filter is down in the front fender too draw in colder air. I have a cheap ebay intake I bought off my friend for $25. I didnt get any power gain, but the sound is worth the $25. I wouldnt pay the $220 or whatever the aem is for it though.

um if u have the $ to spend on it i would but i have a 91 accord w/ a aem short ram and i am very pleased w/ it...like the others said the only difference is where the intake is getting the air from...cold air from down near the fender wall and short ram on right beside the engine...but how much is the difference in the short ram and cold air for ur car???if it isnt too much then i would go cold air but like i said i am pleased w/ my short ram...also on the downside of cold air--if u go through a puddle of water it is very likely to suck um some water

Re: aem cold air intake vs. aem short ram (Beach Accord)
get a short ram from ebay stick a K & N filter on go buy a peice of sheet metal and make a heat shield(or if u have a friend thats good with fiberglass have him fab u up one), and run washing machine hose from ur fender well. thats a better setup than cold air for prolly 100 bucks cheaper

I personaly have an ebay CAI with a K&N extreme filter, IMO the short ram provides a little more throttle response than the CAI, but at WOT and higher rpms I believe the CAI will make a little more power, Thats what I noticed personally.
As for puddles and such sort, I have my bumper lights removed for more airflow to the Filter (CAI), and with Rain and everything, I have no problem, even though I know my filter gets soaked abit, But as for Hydrolocking the motor from sucking in water, you'd pretty much have to engulf the filter in big *** Puddle.
Normally while I drive during the Rain, I dont use heavy throttle thats all.

I saw on a thread here somwhere a test done with K&N filters compared to other brands, and from their results, A'pexi kicked K&N in the grill. Not a huge difference...but the K&n didnt filter as well as the A'pexi. Ebay intakes are the way to go though....Just watch out for arm, leg, esophagus, and spinal cord shipping prices. Most of the $20 ones ship for 25, so be careful about that. I've seen A'pexi filters for around 50-60.
You can also just attach a good filter to the stock rubber hose using a piece of metal pipe inside teh filter and the hoze. Not gonna give you much of a performance gain, and it makes it kinda loud, but its a though. Thats how my car was for a while, not its just a standard K&N filter with the stock airbox. I did notice a torque drop below 3000 rpm with my old setup that went away when i put the kn on.

You live in Cali. Think about it.
OR
You can come back later and make a thread about how to get out of a "modified intake" ticket cuz you were speeding to show off your intake.
