Re: 98 honda 5spd
start with the search function. i don't know the answer but i know i have seen a lot of info about them. i would recommend making a word document so you don't forget the differences

Re: 98 honda 5spd
a couple obvious differences are:
-h22a is jdm ... has a higher compression ratio ... depending on the year can be obd1 or obd2
-h22a4 is usdm ... has a lower compression ration ... and obd2 only

Re: 98 honda 5spd
im not 100% sure if those are the only differences ... unfortunately im not yet too familiar with H series motors ... but with a stock h22a4 you can actually have a chance of getting your car registered legit with that h22a4 ... a jdm h22a will never pass ... at least not here in california, the emission **** state ... but if thats not an issue just get a h22a it's cheaper than getting a h22a4 and making it a "h22a clone"

Re: 98 honda 5spd
that really depends on the route you want to go and your budget ... with a small budget you can probably only do bolt-on's ... which is nothing special ... but if you have money to play with then you can start building from the inside out ... which is where real power comes into play =]

Its probably a typo, but I just have to pry.
Why do you have an F22 in your 98?
Props to that motor for getting to 300k though.

Re: 98 honda 5spd
one problem that is common with that swap is the drivers side motor mount, there is a bracket that connects between the motor mount and the bracket on the car and they do not line up properly and it causes it break the mount bolts. i am sure you can find out more about it in FAQ'S. i have the same setup 98 accord coupe 5 speed with H22A4 and when i was running a stage 3 clutch it was breaking the bolts like once a month but now i'm running a stock clutch and i no longer have problems with it.

What are your power goals and your use for the car? you keep asking what to add to the engine. You have never said if you want to stay naturally aspirated or go forced induction.
Here are some parts to consider replacing;
Block
Water Pump (OEM Honda)
Oil Pump (OEM Honda)
Balance shaft eliminator kit (Kaizen Speed)
Ductile Iron Sleeves (Darton M.I.D)
Forged Pistons 85-90mm (Wiseco) Compression ratio depends on engine use, pump or race gas, N/A or boosted)
Connecting Rods (Carrillo)
Con rod & crank shaft main Bearings (OEM Honda)
A master rebuild kit (OEM Honda) It will have all the head & block gaskets & seals
Head
Port & Polish (CCCylinder Heads.com) Type of porting depends on the build - street, mild or race.
Valves (Bisimoto)
Valve guides & seals (Bisimoto)
Valve springs & retainers (Bisimoto)
Camshafts (Bisimoto)
Rocker arms (OEM Honda) This is the most overlooked part in the valve train, a must to replace if building a race engine.
Adjustable camshaft gears (Bisimoto)
External
CA or SR intake with a good filter (K&N)
Larger throttle body (64mm) Send your stock TB to Maxbore
Ported intake manifold - Euro R if possible
Last but certainly not least. A good free flowing header & exhaust system. Piece a system together yourself. There are lots to choose from
I may have missed something
Cheers
