99 accord wont go in reverse

99 accord wont go in reverse
my 99 accord goes into reverse but it wont move and it makes a loud grrrrrr noise do anyone have any suggestions? thanx in advance

if it moves forward and you can hear it engage for reverse, your trans is toast and it's time for a rebuild

all other gears work fine, just for reverse. cj joints are good. just putting into reverse, and I dont have alot of mile, 144k miles, I'd be surprised to need a rebuild. any other ideas?
