Take a look at the throttle and see if the cable is stuck or caught on something.

okay so i checked it out and its loose at my gas pedal, like i can tug on it and get slack. does this mean its broken and if so would that cause it to start up and go to high rpms right away?

Loose at the gas pedal is usually an indication that it will be tight at the throttle body. Open your hood and check to see if the throttle body is stuck wide open. $10 says it is!

You probably need to clean and lubricate the throttle body &/or the throttle cable.

Is the throttle plate inside the throttle body stuck open? If there was that much slack on both ends of the cable and your hitting the rev limiter on start up the throttle plate must be stuck open.

Now if you adjusted the cable tighter it probably wont close now.

Can you post up some pictures of the throttle body cable and real?

Make sure that you adjust the throttle cable again after you get the throttle body cleaned up and installed. It's could be a wee bit on the tight side as it sits now.

The amount of deflection (slack) between the throttle body real and the throttle cable bracket should be 10mm - 12mm (just under 1/2")
