99 accord f23 oil woes
so I recently traded my rusted out 97 civic dx for this 99 accord ex f23 auto. kept throwing code p1259 which is what most of you already know vtec malfunction more or less.
dude kept saying he went to wyotech and brought his mechanic along.
failed to mention the cel issue.
took it for a test drive and didn't see or feel a problem. car is in excellent condition besides having 202k miles.
anyway, long story short, with the p1259 code and flickering oil light at idle and sometimes flashing while driving.
I had been searching through threads looking for a solution to my particular problem.
came up with nothing.
so I went ahead and went with them cheapest thing. previous owner said they had had an oil change recently. I crawl up underneath and look and there is this off brand oil filter I have never seen before.
went to autozone and purchased a bosch oil filter and that itself has seemed to solve both issues. I did however pull and cleaned the vtec solenoid and its oil screen filter.
this post is basically to share my issue and repair just in case anyone else had similar issues. hope this also helps someone else.

that brand was something called parts plus or something like that. it was light blue. nothing I have seen before. previous owner said they just had done an oil change. I honestly don't know how long its been on there or how old the oil was. the filter appeared clean on the outside.

bosch happens to make rather highly quality oil filters friend. in fact, you would be very hard pressed to find a bad oil filter these days on the market. even driveworks china knockoffs are considered pretty good.
