99 accord coupe front end vibration
This is my third accord and am having difficulty fixing my steering wheel vibration. Miles are 111000, new tires, fresh rotation and balance. I am getting a vibration at about 70 MPH, under throttle, letting off etc. I thought for sure it was a tire / balance issue but am now stumped.
Is there anything on these 6th gens that is a common issue in the front end? It does have an aftermarket axle on the left side. It is a one owner that has never been wrecked.
Next is putting it on a lift to check the bearings etc. Just looking for obvious issues to check first.
BTW, any good sources for hub/bearing assemblies? Might as well change them at 111000 miles....

Re: 99 accord coupe front end vibration
did it vibrate before the new tires/ rotation/ balance job?
and you rotate the tires front-to-back to make sure that the tire/balance issue is ruled out?
ya, putting it on a lift or up in the driveway to check all bushings/joints/tie rods/bearings is a good check as well...

Re: 99 accord coupe front end vibration
Thanks. So far I have balanced / rotated and even tried another set of wheels/tires from another accord. After putting it on the lift I noticed that the replaced (newer) axle shaft has minor play (rotational) in it. Everything else is tight.
My plan right now is to install new brakes / rotors, then tranny mount, then the left shaft. If that does not fix it I will live with a 70+ mph vibration. I have done a complete tune-up to include a new dizzy to fix an internal leak. The engine runs very smooth, shifts great, so I am running out of things to relate to a vibration.
thanks for the reply!
