98 honda accord ECT connector wire query
Hi Guys!!
spent whole sunday searching DIY sites but couldn't find answer of my query. I am really very frustrated ..... now thinking why I removed wires from ECT Coolant temperature sensor connector
My ECT sensor connector was broken ..... Fortunately I found a connector in junkyard and I decided to change it. I removed the wires from broken ECT connector .... but while putting wires to new connector ... I got confused ... There are two terminals in connector and two wires but I am not sure which wire to connect to which terminal ....
- Car: 1998 honda accord LX v6
- Connector: ECT coolant temperature sensor connector with two terminals. For me Terminal 1 is near to connector clip and terminal2 is opposite of clip.
- Wires: Two wires. One is red/white(signal) and green/black(ground)...
Any help will be greatly appreciated.....
Connector pic is in below link:

Re: 98 honda accord ECT connector wire query
Are you talking about the 8-pin connector that is on the back of the dashboard? If so this will help you.
1 BLK/YEL (Ignition ON input)
2 WHT/YEL (Fuse 13 – Pass.)
3 RED/WHT (Engine coolant temp. input)
4 BLU/ORN (Blower motor high relay control)
5 ORN/BLK (Power transistor control)
6 BLU/RED (Blower motor feedback)
7 BRN/YEL (Rear window defogger ON output)
8 BLK (G401)
when looking at it right it will look like
1BB23
45678 The B is for Blank I couldn't get a space to stay in there.
Hope this helps. If not send me your email and I'll send you the manual that I have.

Re: 98 honda accord ECT connector wire query
Thanks for your reply ...atleast someone read my problem and replied
I am talking about ECT engine coolant temperature sensor which is near temperature gauge sensor.... Its a two terminal/pin sensor. I am not sure out of those 2 terminal, which terminal is ground and which terminal is for signal ... I just removed wire from plug of this sensor and now while putting those wire back into new plug, I not able to decide which wire I should connect to which terminal of Coolant sensor ...
Example:
- ECT sensor with two terminal/pin in it.
- Two wires from ECM (red/white and green/black
Query: can I connect any wire to any terminal of sensor OR I need to first identify sensor terminal as ground & signal and then connect ire to them accordingly..
I just read somewhere that 2 pin ECT/IAT sensors are not polarity sensitive ..hence we can connect any wire to any pin ....Is this correct...?
