97 Honda Accord Power Steering Question
Hey guys. I have a 1997 Honda Accord and today I heard a knocking under the hood. Opened it up and the power steering belt is frayed bad and pieces of it are knocking around in there even though it is still turning. I left it overnight at my work and was wondering if I just cut the belt off for now, can I drive it home safely, or does that belt power something other than the power steering as well? I just want to get it home, not talking about driving it for an extended period of time.
Thanks in advance,
Bp

Re: 97 Honda Accord Power Steering Question
had to do this on my dad's '95 Odyssey, slow-speed steering was difficult as expected but also high-load steering ("cloverleaf" entrance and exit ramps) at speed was very heavy. it may just have been the fact that it's so heavy and may have different rack ratio. but keep that in mind before you enter a turn like that for the first time.
