97 accord trouble with o2 sensor
My 97 accord threw the code P0141 which is: 02 sensor heater circuit malfunction bank one sensor two. I changed the 02 sensor but the code keeps coming back. What else should I check? Is the heater circuit part of the 02 sensor or something different I need to check? Any help would be appreciated, I am desperate to get this resolved quickly. Thanks.

Re: 97 accord trouble with o2 sensor (treeguy)
hi,I am a honda tech by trade,is your car a v-6? if so a clogged egr ports will also cause a 02 sensor code.first make sure you did not get a bad sensor,if not, take the top plate off of your engine, you will see 6 egr port holes, some of them will be clogged, clean the out with a coat hanger and test drive it.If all the ports do not clog,it will not code the 401 for egr ports, but it will cause the sensor to read wrong and trip that code.let me know how you make out.

Re: 97 accord trouble with o2 sensor (LookingForVTEC)
Thanks for the help so far. Not a V6 though just the four cylinder. Does the four cylinder have the same problem with the EGR?
I hate to have to spend the dough on another 02 sensor but will if thats what it takes to get the CEL off. Is there a simple way to test the sensor? Or is it working, but not compatible enough for the computer to be happy.

i got bad news those o2's dont work well in hondas, i dunno why tho. the heater inside the O2 is differnt then hondas o2. I did the same thing you did and i got a short in my starting system. Best bet is save 177 dollars and buy a oem one... i did and trust me it fixs everything

i have a 4 cyl. f22b1 in my 94 accord.... sohc vtec... 175k auto. it's running like crap. i've done two valve adjustments and been through 3 oil changes with and without synthetic...
my car has had a very slight ticking since i got it (130k) but it has progressively gotten louder. it stuttered when i eased on the gas in D4 which i can only guess is a faulty TPS.
but now after 175k and all that the tickin is more noticeable in the bottom end.. under the engine... down below the heagders. it drives like s*** and sounds like it's stretching itself out at the end of the first few gear changes @ low rpms.
the ticking is very noticeable in 1st gear or idle. the engine runs hard. it gets pretty hot (temp gauge reads normal, a little below the middle.) maybe a faulty thermostat?
also, when the engine is warmed up, you can hear a very loud CLICK every few minutes when idling. if you turn the engine off, you can hear what sounds like oil dripping into the oil pan but i'm no mechanic by far.
