97 accord oil pressure switch

97 accord oil pressure switch
So I pulled out and replaced the oil pressure switch today.
Tightening down the new one was a little difficult because of the locktite on the threads.
What I am wondering is whether or not the new one should screw down all the way to the block.
I was very afraid of overtightening it, so I left it off the block by about 3/32 of an inch. My active oil leak seems to have slowed or stopped.
Seems kind of odd to not tighten it down flush to the block to me.

Re: 97 accord oil pressure switch
I have a 97 Acura CL, same engine, and I'm trying to replace my oil pressure switch. On the motor i have that is not in the car, a socket fits on just fine, but I can't get a socket onto the one on the car, the hard coolant line is in the way. Also no room for a wrench in there..any suggestions?

I'm not even 100% sure that is what's leaking, anything else back there that would literally almost stream oil out while running? I can see it drip down the oil filter, so that's what lead me to believe it was the pressure sensor..I've heard of the rear main seal leaking, but i'm not exactly sure where that's located..

Mine leaks fast enough to see almost a stream..at least 3 drips a second onto the ground..and it hits the exhaust as soon as the engine warms up, and the oil light comes on once the car is up to temp..

Maybe someone else will chime in on a major leak like that! I have never experienced any oil leak that crucial before.

Yeah its enough I'm worried to drive it..I read a few other posts about a slight "whirring" noise you can hear when this sort of thing happens, causing damage to your motor, and when the car heats up I believe i hear that noise, so it's parked until I can find an answer..Thanks for your help though

Re: 97 accord oil pressure switch
Hey guys i am having a problem with my 94 accord ex. 170+ miles. the oil pressure light came on. i checked the oil level and it was good. i changed the oil and the oil filter to see if it would fix it. the light went off and now it began blinking and at times stays on. ive noticed the light turn on at low rpm/idle.
What might be the problem ?? your help would be highly appreciated!!!

Low oil pressure can come from a variety of reasons. If you have enough oil on the dipstick, that should be enough to tell you that there is enough oil in there. Something like this would freak me out though, because I do not want to know that there is possibility of my oil pump being bad or on its way out. I would get it properly diagnosed to be on the safe side, or read instructions how to diagnose it yourself.
