96 accord cruise light dims/goes out
I have had an on going problem with the cruise control for my 96 accord. It started out with the cruise shutting off by itself.
What happens is that I engage the cruise as normal and everything works fine for several miles and then it starts to accelerate for about 1 sec. and then the "CRUISE" engaged light goes out and the cruise shuts off. I can reengage the cruise but it will only last for a couple of seconds.
Then it progressed to the "CRUISE" engaged light would start to flicker and dim before it would shut the cruise off.
Now the cruise doesn't work at all and "CRUISE" engaged light will not even turn on.
I previously did the trouble shooting section in the Honda service manual when it was a somewhat intermittent problem and came up with nothing. I am going to do it again today now that the cruise doesn't work at all.
I sometimes notice a very slight burnt wire smell but have been unable to locate that and it is such a slight smell I question if I am even really smelling it. I am leaning towards a bad ground.
One other thing that may or may not be related is the doors locks sometimes cycle on/off by themselves several times, usually after locking the door. It hasn't happened very much since the cruise quit working though so it may be related. Are the cruise and locks controlled by the same module?
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

Re: 96 accord cruise light dims/goes out
Did the troubleshooting steps out of the Honda manual the other day. The clutch switch was a little flakey, just like the last time I did the troubleshooting, replaced it and cruise still didn't work. Redid all the troubleshooting step and all checked good, got a cruise module ordered. Hope that does it.
