Valve cover grommet help
Maybe this is the dumbest question ever but how do you get the valve cover grommets onto the valve cover bolts? The metal cap fits but the grommet is not wide enought to fit over the bottom part of the bolt so how do I get the grommet over that bottom part?

Soak them in hot water to soften them. Apply a light coat of oil to the bolts and...............Phfffft, they're on!!!

I'm having the same problem right now.. Is this true? Throw it in some hotwater and lube up the bolt and I should be good? I broke 3 grommets right now and I gotta re-order. 10 bucks each from Honda... SUCKS!!!

I've never tried soaking them in hot water.
I usually put a little oil on the bolt and then take the bolt, grommet and a socket and place them between a vice in this order...
vice l bolt > grommet > socket l vice
then I just tighten the vice up slowly until the bolt pops through the grommet.
It's much easier than trying to muscle them through with your hands.

10 bucks for an OEM Honda rubber Grommet, just one, I need to get into the grommet business, I only use OEM (JDM) grommets and never had to pry one on, always have to force off the old ones though.

Re: Valve cover grommet help (TouringAccord)
thats how i tried it the first 3 times.. but 3 broke.. I'm going to try and make some special washer or something to make the bolt more "pointy" instead of having the flat surface on the bottom of the bold and trying to get the grommet thru there... Oh well, just ordered 3 more grommets!!! Imma give it another try.. If anyone else has more info please send.. This is really aggrivating...
