i'm having some cooling problems with my 95 accord. the radiator hose cracked and coolant leaked everywhere. put a new hose on and filled up coolant to max in radiator and reservoir and a couple days later i notice it's starting to overheat so i check the reservoir and its completely empty. there aren't any visible leaks.

whats weird is that when i'm idling, the temperature starts going up but when i accelerate it goes down. and the radiator fan only turns on when the AC is on or the car is off.


any idea on whats wrong?

First thing you might want to test is the Fan switch at the Thermostat housing.
The switch should have continuity [turn on] at approx. 190 degrees coolant temp.
That should be approx. 1/2 way of the temp gauge.

does the gauge temp go up?.... when U drive does it go down? At stop or rest, does it go up? U want to check that the Ac fan turn on when U turn the AC on. U want to check the turn on sensor for the Radiator Fan. The Sensor could be back, this will not turn Ur Radiator Fan on at 210 degree. THis will cause U heat to go up.

Also check for visible Coolant leak at the Crank Pully......
