94 Accord Replace Power Window Motor
Hi,
My mom's car (1994 Accord Ex) has been having a problem with the driver window.
About a year ago the Driver window stopped going up and down. I took the switch out and cleaned it, and it worked for a few weeks then stopped again and I couldn't get it to work anymore. Was going to buy a new master switch off ebay but she did not get around to it and lived with the window up.
Now she's getting ready to sell the car and I bought a new Master Window Switch and of course...that didn't fix it. I checked the fuses and found the drivers window one under the hood was blown. Replaced that, then took the door panel off, and applied power from the battery directly to the motor wires....which didn't do anything, can't hear the motor trying to run...nothing. I also sprayed the window tracks a little because she had not been using the window for almost a year. But nothing's worked. I guess the motor blew a while back, hence the blown fuse under the hood.
So now she'd like me to replace the window motor since it's pretty cheap on ebay, I'm not a mechanic, I'm a computer geek, but i'm pretty good at figuring stuff out and I got ahold of the shop manual for the car.
So right now the window is all the way up and the motor won't run...anybody had to replace the motor like this...any tips, suggestions or directions to do it? Do I have to remove the window glass? And how hard of a job is this to do?
Thanks in advance.
