93' "overheating" when Idle...some things fixed but gauge still High..
My 93 Accord has been over heating for the last few days. Ive changed the radiator fan switch-which wasnt working, so the fans turn on when the gauge reaches about 3/4 of the way hot. There are no known leaks, the coolant is full. We've replaced the thermostat but when the car idles or is in Park the temp still goes up and stays there for a few min till the fans kick on. What else could it be that is making the car "overheat?" According to the mechanic looking at the car he used a thermometer and the engine is not actually getting overly hot when its at the 3/4 mark while in idle. But something has to be making it go high otherwise the fans wouldnt kick on, right? Please help!
so, sofar:
New Radiator fan switch on water outlet
New Thermostat-Air has been bled out.
No known leaks, Coolant Filled.

If he's sure that it isn't getting hot, I'd replace the temperature sender. You also take the thermostat out to be sure u don't have a bum thermostat or perhaps the wrong temperature opening thermostat. If you went OEM on the thermostat it should be fine.
