If you are smelling fuel you need to check for leaks first.

Try slowly introducing seafoam into the brake booster intake manifold port on a cold start when its idling high and look for white smoke leaking out of the exhaust anywhere from the exhaust manifold to the oxygen sensor.

I have also been reading on the net that a egr solenoid could be a problem I have noticed to that I unplug the vacuum line on the egr valve the is no vacuum on the line.I cleaned the egr valve but didnt clean the ports under the egr valve .Are there small ports under the egr valve that I may have missed during the egr valve cleaning?

When initially turning the key to ON the D4 lamp will illuminate while the fuel pump primes/Main relay is on. After a moment the fuel pump will stop and the D4 lamp will turn off when the relay turns off.

If the engine is running and the trans is in Park and the D4 lamp is illuminated or blinking then there is a code stored in the TCU. Retrieve the code(s).
