92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
92 accord automatic. little over 100k. Replaced tranny with 3 used trannys in 2 months. Same problem. After 2/3 days only had 3rd gear. I could manually shift and 1/2 was only 2nd gear and 3/4 is only 3rd gear. Normal driving is only 3rd gear. If I let the car not being used at all and battery dies and then start again and it runs perfect for 2/3 days and then back to same problem of only 3rd gear. It has done this 3 times as well. Took to dealer and he said it has to have rebuilt tranny as diagnostic is not showing anything else but tranny. Put in rebuilt tranny, worked perfect 2 days and now only 3rd gear again. Stop driving battery went dead and then after week later charged the battery and worked perfectly 1 day, then back to only 3rd gear onlyagain. Not sure what to do. A tranny shop said they thought it might be pcm board. Only other issue but I dont think related is that 3 times over last 3 months the instrument panel flashed that all the doors were open red but then it wen off. Not sure of next steps?

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
Check for any codes by jumping the two wire blue connector over by the passenger side kick panel.
If no codes found, check your fuse panels and the 7.5A fuse for clock/memory. If this is blown no codes will be saved when the key is turned off.
If no codes or codes 1;2;7;8;9;15 pop up, turn the car to off. Pull back passenger side foot well carpet, remove the metal protector over the ECU and TCU, and pull the TCU out. Open the case and look for burnt capacitor and/or resistors.

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
I have pulled the fuse and that resets everything. It has worked fine for 2 months. Now it has gone back to same problem and I pull the fuse it resets and is fine for a day or two and then back to only 2nd and 3rd gear. Next step ECU, TCU TCM PCM? A little confused on what to do now that I can solve the problem for a day or two, but maybe it is wiring or bad capacitor in one of those boards. Which first? Thank you

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
Thanks Mike! No the CEL and D4 lamp do not illuminate showing any failure. Should I still follow your previous thoughts of removing the TCM? or try anything else. Thanks so much for walking me through this. As you can tell not really up to speed on these things but trying

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
When you turn the key to II(ON) all the warning lights come on, SRS, ABS, oil, Brake, P, D4, CEL, and so on.
After a moment the D4 light clicks off and should stay off until you have selected D4. Unless there is a code, with an few exceptions.
Turn the ignition to I(OFF), jumper the two wire blue connector with a wire and then turn the ignition to II(ON) and watch the CEL or D4 for blinking(those are the stored codes).
If nothing then pull the TCU out and open it up to check for blown capacitors/resistors.

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
I have replaced the TCM. It is a re manufactured. It had a couple of burnt resistors so I thought that was the problem. Now all I have is 2nd gear. I can manually shift 1st and 2nd, but no 3rd and 4th. Also, if it helps I did jump the blue connector. The D4 stays lit as well as the CEL but no flashes or codes. Both stay lit. When I disconnect only the CEL goes out. As Mike had mentioned, it is supposed to go out after a few seconds, it never does. In regular driving the D4 light never goes out now regardless of gear. Stays lit from starting and if I do it manually the D1 and D4 will be lit, D2 and D4 will be lit and so on. Not sure if that helps? Thanks for any help!

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
Think I made a mistake as I did not check for codes until I put the
new TCM in Can or should I put the old one in again and check for codes or is it too late.

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
I replaced the re manufactured TCM I just put in with my old one. Now it is as before. Currently driving ok, but sure if will fault as 2 of the resistors looked blown. Also, on the new- remanufactured TCM the capacitor in that area looked like it leaked and is bad, as brown around the bottom of board around the capacitor. Is it most likely I received a bad TCM or did my car fry it? Should I order another TCM? or? Thank you

Re: 92 accord transmission symptom PROBLEM
I'm also trying to find a solution to a problem with my 02 accord. My D4 light is blinking and I'm getting a few codes.
P0141, P0758, P0135, P1298.
I changed the O2 sensor. check the B and C solenoids, both give a clicking sound and 16.5 oms. I changed the transmission fluid. the D4 light still blinks, the TCU and check engine light on.
