92 Accord electrical/radio problems
Hi all,
I've had a recent issue with my 92 Accord in which while driving down the road, the radio when on, will turn off, and then back on. Sometimes immediately, sometimes it takes it a good 30 seconds to return to life. The probably can usually be initiated after lifting off of the gas pedal or depressing the clutch, however it's happened while driving at 60 down the freeway too. Sometimes it happens immediately upon ignition, and will cycle on off until I just shut it off. Doesn't seem to matter if it's rainy and humid or hot and dry outside. Also only has happened while the engine is on, when running on Acc sitting in the driveway the radio works fine.
I found another thread where a guy with a '96 civic had a similar problem and he fixed it with an ELD replacement, but his headlights and dash panel were also having troubles. My lights/panel lights are working properly.
What I don't know is if my 92 has an ELD, or what it looks like. I've looked at the fuse box, but didn't see anything that was explicitly labeled "ELD." I tried jumping the 2 pin blue jack by the passenger door and turning the key to "run," but the check engine light just stayed solid... I have opened up the radio, Pioneer purchased 2 years ago, and all the solder joints and capacitors looked just fine. Also the absence of a similar issue with the same model radio lead me to believe that it has to do with my car's circuitry.
If you have any idea of things I could check out, I'd appreciate it a lot, perhaps these are warning signs for something else that is going on? Idk.
Thanks

Re: 92 Accord electrical/radio problems
ELD is brown component in your under hood fusebox, and it could be the problem. but i would lean towards alternator/bad cell on battery.
some electronics can work in a wide voltage range. some, more delicate electronics will not run correctly if voltage drops below 12~, and i assume that's exactly whats happening.
