91 accord sedan engine won't rev above 3500 RPM
I need help, my GF's 91 accord automatic won't rev above 3500 RPM it runs fine below that but when you get up to 3500 it makes a sound like the rev limiter is set at 3500 and kind of backfires. It does this during all normal driving. Also, won't kick down on the highway because of this problem. HELP!!!

spark plugs, plug wires, cracked dist. cap, dist rotor shorting to ground, spark shield missing from dist, coil breaking down, plugged up fuel filter, fuel pump dying, Timing belt jumped a tooth.
All these are things that can cause the symptoms you describe.
Does the Tach jump around and act goofy?
Any codes stored, or CEL?

Re: 91 accord sedan engine won't rev above 3500 RPM (hondadude)
I drove home lastnight and it was having the same symptom still. I went to autozone to buy a cap, rotor, plugs, & wires. When I got there I opened the hood and just pushed on the wire ends at the distributor to make sure they were snug on there. When I left there, it stopped doing it. The tach never jumped around but it was backfiring and popping when I would let off the gas while driving down the road. I changed everything anyway. It hasn't yet had the symptom again. Thanks for the info.
