91 Accord SE sporatic no start but cranks problem HELP!!!!!
I have a 1991 Honda Accord SE. My car starts most of the time but sometimes i will go to start it and it will just crank and not start. Then about 10-15 minutes later it will start right up. Can someone help me out with what they think could be the problem. When it is cranking the tachometer does not move. Could this be a fuel pump problem??????
thanks Will

Check to see if you have spark while cranking, if you do then I would suspect that it's your main relay.

Does the tach move before an actual start (while still trying to start), sometimes the tach needs a running engine if it is off scale low (it may not read 250 RPM). Tach signal comes from the ignition coil. Ignition coil is controlled by the ignitor. Is it not starting after the inside of the car has gotten hot and then you have left the window down or the door open for that 10 to 15 minutes, then after all the hot air has escapped, it starts, get a main relay, it is a serious wear and tear item. Hold the new one in your hand and then look up under the dash on the drivers side for the old one.

main relay is to the left side of the steering wheel. Just poke under the dashboard, you will first have to remove the cruise controle module (big metal box - 2 - 10mm screws), after you are bound to see the main relay. It might get a little tricky to remove the whole thing so you might consider replacing only internal part of it (it is hold by two plastic holders on the sides).
