Default 91 Accord power steering leak

So my 91 accord is leaking power steering FROM EVERYWHERE! From the rack, lines, and pump. Im getting a new rack and replaced the rubber part of the lines and no more leaks! But the power steering pump is another story. Ever since I got the car it has had it. I replaced the seals in the lines and put on another pump that I got from a junkyard. The pump was from a fresh arrival and didn't appear to have any residue from leaking.

Its always on the bottom of the pump and happened with the original and replacement pumps. I rechecked the lines and they are bone dry. Could it be the shaft seal leaking? Does anyone have any tips for replacing that seal?

The case must be separated to replace the seal. Typically, when this seal leaks it also washes the grease from the bearing. I recommend replacing the bearing at the same time. And since you must separate the case it only makes sense to replace every seal in the pump while you're at it.

Word of advice, do not let the vanes fall out. Not the end of the world if you do though. However it is absolutely critical that the vanes face the proper direction. One edge is rounded on each vane. The rounded edge faces outward.

It's $15 for a rebuild kit from any parts store which will include all the orings as well as for the seal that sits just behind the pulley. It's really easy to rebuild it. You just take off a few bolts and make sure to coat each oring in honda power steering fluid and you're good to go.

It might be wise to replace the bearing as well. When you take off the belt just turn the pulley and see if it's kinda rough. It should be tight but smooth. If not, replace the bearing as well while you're in there, getting one from honda, which will come with a shaft.

Okay thanks for the replies! I have the front of the engine disassembled right now to replace the cam, crank, and balance shaft seals so ill do the rebuild while I have the pump off.

Little bit of an update I ordered a seal kit and installed it. Not hard at all! The biggest issue is getting the pulley nut off. After that it was simple. It was leaking from the shaft seal. There was residue all over that area and the old seal. With some grease and a rubber mallet the new seal popped in great. NO MORE LEAKS

This is the diagram that came with the rebuild kit if anyone needs it.

The nut on the pulley was 19mm and left hand thread.
The housing bolts and bolts for the line are 10mm.
When your finished make sure and check that all the bolts are nice and tight. Otherwise leaks WILL happen.

Hope this helps!
