91 Accord LX Spark Plug Oil Leak
I'm a newbie. Please bear with me.
About 5 months ago, I noticed that when I pulled the spark plug wires out, it was all oily. The compartment where the spark plugs sit was filled with oil. I brought the car to a mechanic and he said the gasket has to be changed. So, I agreed and he did it and everything was fine.
Yesterday, I was checking on things and again there is oil in all of the spark plug compartments. Compartments of the #2 and #3 plugs where filled with noticibly more amount of oil.
What is the cause of this? Is this something that I should fix immediately? Please help? What should I do?

Re: (lingerbw)
I'm not sure if he changed the spark plug grommet. I think he removed the top cover, cause he showed me the new replacement main cover gasket just before he changed it.
No, I did not spill oil into the spark plug compartments. There is oil in 3 out of the 4 compartments.
One more thing, I hear a kind of clicking sound from the engine when it is idling. I think it is one of the valves. Man, I think I'm going to have a round of expenditure coming soon.

The spark plug seals go under Valve Cover right where the spark plugs go in , there are 4 of them and they go into seal in Valve Cover where the spark plugs go down through. Put in new ones, buy them at the HONDA Dealership and you will have no more oil leaking into SPARK PLUG HOLES.

Re: (First Honda 1976)
agreed with the post above. Should be no problem once you replace all of the proper gaskets that should have been done in the first place.
About the ticking coming from your engine. Don't worry about it too much. All it is is valves lifting and falling. Shouldn't be any trouble for a long time. Mine's been doing it for a while.
On another note, I used to own a 93 eclipse RS and it ticked like a ****! I used this stuff called Risoline and it cleared the sound right up. Guy at the counter told me that everytime I do an oil change I should substitue one quart of oil for this stuff. So I did most of the time and it kept the ticking down.

Yeah, you just need to get a new valve cover gasket set. I had the same problem and had one cylinder missing like crazy because of it. Went down to kragen and 25 bucks later fixed it all up. You might want to get new spark plugs while your at it... all that oil on the plug doesnt help the spark any.

Re: 91 Accord LX Spark Plug Oil Leak (justsomeone)
Been there done that on my 94. Spoke to Honda and they said it was the B- seals. they are the seals that are visable when you take the valve cover off. they usually stick to the cover when it is removed. This did not solve my problem. I did some research and if you replace the B-seals and it still leaks then you have to go further into the repair. The seals that were bad were located below the rockers arms.
Take the Valve cover off.
Take the rocker arm assemb. off- I do not that the precedures right on me but do not take all the bolts out.. If you do you may have a spring loaded rocker arm throwing parts all over the room..
Ever since no problem. I am sorry I do not remember the name of the seals but they are small and if you tell honda they are below the rocker arm they can probably tell you the name.
Plug seals i think is the name.. Not sure though.
Hope this helps.
( this is also a good time to do a valve adj..
