'87 LX Accord won't start.
I drove home from work yesterday, and my car ran fine. I get home, eat some food and get cleaned up to go over to my girlfriends' house. I come out to my car, turn it on and it turns over fine.
I get out into my street and it dies. I started it again, died. I started it a third time but through it into gear fast so I could I get some gas in it and hopefully that would keep it started. I'm going up this SLIGHT hill at about 20mph in 2nd gear, my car starts to bog down while my foot is on the gas. The car wanted to die while my tach was at about 2000rpm. I just shut it off, rolled it back down my driveway.
I tried it one more time, it started really hard and I had to pump the gas like crazy, but it started. I made it up that small hill and onto the main roads and it drove/idled fine.
When I was leaving my girlfriends house last night I went to go start it and nothing, it would try to start but it wouldn't. That tells me that my starter is fine. I checked for spark with my ignition coil SEVERAL times and I only saw 1 very TINY spark out of all the times I did it. I heard my fuel pump prime, and gas spray into the cabuerator.
Now, it's looking like it's the coil. However when it was bogging and dieing earlier that day, that made me think it was fuel. I could really use you help guys!!

sounds like your fuel cutoff relay is dead. i have one for sale at 3geez. if you look over there, there is a shop manual for download so you can test the relay. i'm willing to be that this is the problem.
could possibly be your coil. those aren't exactly the most reliable part on those cars. again, i have one for sale on 3geez.

easy test, when car does not start, pull off the fuel line at carburator, the red line,, see if u are getting gas..........if not it could be a plugged filter mostly the 1 by the fuel tank, which i would chk anyways to make sure it is not plugged ,, bad fuel pump relay located in the fuse box or a bad fuel pump,,, also make sure floats are not sinking or sunk.. if u get fuel.......chk for spark pull a plug wire off, stick a screwdriver in plug wire , ground it and see if u get a good spark ..if not could be the coil, rotor, cap,
keep in mind that any electrical parts could work intermittently so it is best to test when car is acting up
And before buying and replacing parts diagnose problem

Got it fixed.
Turned out to be a bad ignition coil and a distributor. Runs like a champ now.
