2002 HONDA ACCORD COUPE EX-V6
I have a 2002 Honda Accord Coupe EX-V6 with 47,300 miles and the car runs perfect. The owner's manual suggests changing the timing belt at 100k miles and there is no mention of time limit. When I took the car to the Honda dealer for a routine oil change they recommend changing the timing belt and water pump. I am skeptical that the timing belt really needs to be changed since the car only has 47k miles and is just eight years old. I have seen some postings that mention getting the timing belt changed on their Honda Accord's when the car has 100k to 130k miles at the 10 years mark. Also, I am somewhat hesitant to allow the dealer to due this job at the moment. I have seen some posts where people have had the belts changed at routine maintenance only to encounter some mechanical issues. How long do timing belts last in terms of time? Should I get the timing belt replaced?

Check to see if the belt is loose or has any crack/rips. If it's still fine, the dealer just wants your money.
Usually timing belt should be with your 90k maintenance.
47,300 seems pretty low to be having your timing belt to be changed already.
