Default 2001 Accord Buzzing Noise Under Car When Turned Off

2001 Accord V6 EX started making a buzzing noise under car below left rear passenger door after car was turned off (no key in ignition either). The noise continued intermittently for about 30 mins. The noise seemed to be coming from a smaller box (right next to a larger box) underneath the car, in front of the fuel tank. The box appears to have fuel lines running into and out of it. Have never noticed the noise before. Any ideas what would cause this or is it a problem? Thanks!

If you find the answer I would like to know. I am experiencing the same problem with my 2001 Honda Accord. It is bizarre.

Umm fuel pump??

Have you changed it recently or did this sound just appear out of the blues?

My son noticed it about a month ago. No, I have not had the fuel pump changes recently.

look under your carpet and try to listen to your fuel pump...probably rubbing wires or something

my wife's 01 4cyl does it regularly so i know the sound you're talking about.

no, it's not the fuel pump... the '98 and newer accords have a lot of the solenoids and purge valves for the emissions system in a cluster around the fuel tank. the noise is the sound of this system doing its job. it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the reply hondamark. I have never noticed the noise before and we have had the car for over 8 years. My concern was that it was the fuel pump continuing to cycle for 30 mins. or more after the car was turned off.

When it's making the noise, unscrew the gas cap to relieve the pressure. That will get it to stop.

Noise is normal. Many Accords do that, even when new.
