Icon2 1998 Accord V6, New Exhaust.

Thanks for everyone that helped me out in strut thread. (Waiting on some Koni's).

New issue, exhaust is rusted to heck, (car was up north for 100,000 miles), I would like to replace it with more of an upgraded unit with a single pipe for good back-pressure from cat-back (Oh no! No duel exhaust), but of course I despise and hate the ricer fart can sound that's all over this city..

I'm looking into Greddy's Evo 2 since the sound is rather clean at high throttle yet not high pitch rice burning annoying.

HON ACCORD V6 (single)
1998-02 2/4 door
10156701 699.00

HON ACCORD V6 (2nd opt)
1998-02 use W/10156701
10156703 494.00

There's the problem, what the heck is the difference, one says single but costs more and the other is just 2nd option? If anyone can clear this up that would be great. Oh that above is from their site.

P.s. Sorry for the long post, so many questions..

The 2nd option is the extra cost that you would have to add on if you choose the dual exhaust. $699 for the single exhaust, $1193 (699+494) for the dual exhaust.

I would search other options as $1200 is WAY TOO MUCH to spend on an exhaust even if it did include headers. Isn't the honda V6 stainless? I know it was on my 98 coupe V6 and it was still in good shape even after 100K miles

Thanks for the quick responses. Also I am not sure about the stainless. The center muffler appears to be in great shape, everything else has rust galore. It may have a leak, but it's not something I plan on tackling right now, perhaps down the line in a bit. But now I'm on the right track, thanks.

Also trying to figure out this vibration I get through the steering wheel whilst sitting at a stoplight..That's another adventure.

Bad motor mounts tend to cause vibrations like yours. I'd look there first.

Honestly, not a clue, and yes, that price is pretty up there. I'm looking around at HKS also.

Oh and phil, I will look into that. Except I am not sure of how to tell if they are bad, (Braking and giving the motor some gas while someone looks at motor movement?) But I will definitely look into it, thanks.

No problem. Braking and giving it gas would show any excess movement, but even with good mounts a motor can move quite a bit using that method. A trained eye can tell from the engine moves when the transmission is put into gear, but the best way would be to visually inspect the mount. Unfortunately, unless you know what it's supposed to look like vs how it currently looks, you may not be able to tell if the mount has gone bad. You might be able to find a shop that would inspect it for free...
