Halogen Headlights?
So I was looking around Auto Zone the other day and I noticed the "Super White" headlights that the certain companies produce....I was just wondering, what kind of experiences have you guys had? Which brand do you suggest buying? and do you have any input on the idea of me putting them in my accord?

I went to WalMart and got some bulbs. I threw the package away. I believe it was 1 notch above SilverStar. They cost me $40 for the pair. Unfortunately, bulbs alone will not produce the realistic halogen look. Yeah, my beams look a hell of alot better, but far from halogen. Cheaper though.

yea i got the silverstar and i am very pleased...they've lasted as of now 5 months, good halogen look and very bright. bit pricey $50.

You know that your stock bulbs are halogen right? I think what you mean to say is they look better than stock but not as good as an HID setup. For regular lights I would say either Nokya or Silverstars. One problem with most of those HID "look" bulbs is that they up the wattage so much that it causes too much load on the wiring and will burn up your harness. Just a thought though.

In a Junkyard near you.
I have silverstars in my civic and I love them. You can see so much better. I guess the zenon does that plus the slight blue tint of the bulb makes the light beam super white

My dad had sylvania headlights on his lexus gs 300, and they melted the connectors and the wires. That's why I'm very cautious about whether I'm going to get those for my car, or not.

forget the bulbs.. they burn out quick... isntead of dropping 20 bucks for imitations.. get HIDs.. i used to always get bulbs but once in awhile after a few months one would blow.. so i got HIDs and i love them..

I have a 97 Accord SE myself. I just got the amber removed from my taillamps. It was extremely difficult. The amber pieces were thick and I got blisters from yanking it through the bulb hole, stripping the plastic housing quite a bit. I just want to know how you did it.
Also, what size bulbs or watts are the Nokyas? I want to get some hyperwhite bulbs or something from kragen without spending a crap load of money on HID. Thanks.

Ok, let's set some things straight here...
Bulbs that are not tinted, such as the SilverStars, do not use a higher wattage. However, the majority of tinted bulbs, similar to Nokya, DO USE A HIGHER WATTAGE. They do so in order to maintain some brightness through all that damn tint. The most common wattage is 80W, much higher than the stock 55W. The wattage is determined by the bulb, not the wiring, or relay, or anything else.

I agree, except silverstars ARE tinted somewhat.

Ive been through just about all the ebay bulbs you can imagine. They all suck. Just stick to stock. I coulda just bought a HID kit after all that money spent. Im now going HID retro so its all good now. HID kit in halogen headlights is the best mod you could possibly do. It lights up everything on the road!
I havent used silverstars but they are way to expensive and way to many people say they blow out to quickly.
Ive even tried the 9005 conversion with the aftermarket bulbs and they still suck. OEM is the way to go. Ive neevr ever had any of my wires melted on me, even with the aftermarket 9005 conversion. I guess I was lucky.
