1997 Honda Accord V6 Inner Tie Rod Question, Torque Specs? Not tightening correctly
I have a 1997 Accord EX V6 with 236k miles. Both bellows boots were ripped and the inner tie rods had play, so I replaced them with Advance Auto Driveworks Inner Tie Rods.
These came with one concaved crush washer. I took one crush washer off and a solid washer off.
Install:
When putting them back together I placed the concaved crush washer closest to the rack, then the solid washer, then tightened them down hand tight with the crows foot wrench. I DID use blue thread lock.
When I took it for an alignment they said that both inners were loose in the rack?!
Unfortunately the Honda parts diagram doesn't clearly show which washer goes on first (closest to the rack).
1 Do I need to use both washers?
2 Do I need more thread lock?
3 What torque is needed to lock these tight?
Thanks
Tony.

Re: 1997 Honda Accord V6 Inner Tie Rod Question, Torque Specs? Not tightening correct
One is a "stopper" washer - larger, if I remember correctly. One is a "lock" washer - small, again failing memory.
You should actually bend the lock wash onto at least one of the flats of the inner tie rod. This is using a 94 four cyl set up.....I don't think the v6's are that different but could be.
Sorry for the large pic's....

Thanks for those diagrams!
I reversed the order of the lock washer and the stopper washer agh. I wish it wasn't 30 degrees out. Looks like I'm driving the TSX for the next few days.

Re: 1997 Honda Accord V6 Inner Tie Rod Question, Torque Specs? Not tightening correct
Not trying to hijack, but I did my both inner and out tie-rods nearly 5-6 months ago.
NOT sure how and why , inner tie rod has come loose from steering rack and pinion, from the joint mentioned in he attached pict.
What's the easiest way to put back inner tie rod into the steering rack? Since outer tie rod is still intact, anyway I can avoid alignment expense since I had alignment done 5-6 months ago. Also, if stopper washer is missing, where can I buy stopper washer?

The same thing just happened to my 1996 Accord a couple of weeks ago. The inner tie rod unthreaded itself from the rack and pinion and it looks like it was caused because the lock washer wasn't bent against the flats after it was installed.
Did you manage to get them put back together? From the exploded view it looks like you just need to tighten it down with two wrenches.
