1997 Honda Accord has No ABS????
just recently realized after my insurance compnay sent me a bill saying i have to pay an additional fee cause my car has no ABS? i thought by law all cars after a certain year must have ABS stock with the car. i mean i had a 1993 Integra GS and it came with ABS. are most accords around my year have no ABS???
this is new to me i never even realized i didnt even have a ABS light, on the dashboard where the gauges are.

It was not untill just a few years ago that honda put ABS on all vehicles. Back in those days ABS was a luxury because at that point most people were still able to push a brake pedal and turn at at same time. Now aht the ability has faded and Honda must coddle to non driving people it's become a must.
(i just woke up so i'm a bit cranky)

this might be dumb question knowing how expensive everything is now and days, but is it expensive to have ABS installed and the ABS system itself purchased for a 1997 accord LX?

Extremely expensive. I would avoid first generation ABS syatems, the parts are expensive (just the modulator itself is over $1,000 just in parts), and they arent reliable (we see a lot of them go bad). My best advice would be to buy a 98 with 2nd generation ABS (100% reliable and have never replaced one with a defect)

i believe the 96-97 Accord LX had an option for ABS. mine doesnt have it, but i dont really see the problem (other than the fact that the brakes suck in general)

most insurance companies will give a slight rate reduction for taking a driving calss as well....thus my suggestion still carries merit.
