Default 1996 Accord Distributor To Spark Plug Connectors

Hi,

I messed up . I took the distributor spark plug connectors without noting the order. I have a 1996 Accord 4 cyl VTEC. Could anybody tell me the order those connectors go in. The Spark plug wires are marked [4 3 2 1] in that order of spark plugs when seen from the top.

Thanks,

Easiest - go through the accord picture thread and look for a 1994-1997 with it's hood open

search the forum (both archives and recent) with phrases like firing order, it's been posted before.

I found this thread. It say's that all Honda's have that order. So, I guess its good for my 96 Accord too.

I'll try it out and let you know how it goes. Thanks for that tip on the search string.

yes, I believe that is correct

just remember the search feature when you have questions. Most of the time you question has been asked and already answered, so a search would most likely find you the answer faster than what it would take for you to ask and wait for a response. Also remember you can further narrow your search by just searching the Accord forum.

I tried the connection scheme as outlined in the link that I found earlier. Although the distributor on Civic's (where the link is from) doesn't look quite the same as Accord, I still tried the follwing connections. (see link)

and
Distributor2.jpg

The engine still doesn't fireup. I should add this now that I had to remove the distributor with the base to fix a broken hose that's underneath distributor assembly. Since then the engine stopped firingup. I was thinking...

a) I messed up the connectors.
b) I messed up by rotating distributor coupling.

Any thoughts?

it should only fit on to the cam one way so you shouldnt have any problems, you should try moving the distributor front and back, maybe your timing is just off

I gave up and got the car towed to a repair shop after an expensive diagnostics and repare they told me that the spark plug wires and the spark plugs got burnt due to wrong connection (didn't know that could happen ). Lesson learnt the hard way. Hopefully this will help someone in future. Never experiment with the wiring on the dizzy/Distributor.
