so every time ivce installed an exhaust system, i allways get leaks. I use the provided gaskets, tighten up the bolts. everything is lookin good, i start it up and can here the leak. i allways have to take it in to get it sealed. what am I doing wrong?

sounds like header is warped, have a machine shop check it out and resurface its only like 30 bucks. also where is the leak? if you hear it from the ground or bottom of the engine its prolly the flex joint.

im just talking in general. from headers on back. like i had a leak at the joint of the downpipe and the cat...

its something im doing wrong..is there like a seal or a paist im not using? i broke a 12mm socket the other day on the catalytic converter..its wasnt even cheap. it was craftsman..luckily they replaced it but still. i got the bolts tight.

in general you dont have leaks, and from what it sounds like that would be the flex joint i just mentioned. and i recommend to cut it off and put a double braided flex joint welded on instead. or dont mess with them ebay headers, haha.

i got DC sport headers for $350 lol i would never buy ebay headers. i do however have ebay exhaust but replaced the tip with a dual tip magnaflow muffler.

you torqued it down so tight you broke the socket? it doesnt require much torque to "not get a leak", i dont think your diagnosing the "leak" right.

what i mean by leak is, its like im not getting a 100% seal. exhaust shoots out of some of the joints when i installed my exhaust last year. i got it fixed.

Well when removing bolts you could spray some WD40 first. As, to your leak problems. Its prolly just a case of bad luck. LOL

besides the cheap gasket that came with the exhaust, with do you guys use to seal it up? i know the shops allways use an orange paist or somthing.. thanks for all the replys though.

Never use seals. Just gaskets on the engine & header. Same with the header & cat.

ok. well i just didnt know if i was doing it right. i guess maybe i do have bad luck..maybe but i think im doing something wrong. cuz it happened with my headers, and exhaust system.. im nervous to install headers on my friends rx7 cuz i dont wana mess anything up.lol i dont want to cost him money.. i can do it just dont want it with leaks..

yah man try to get better gaskets, but if your torque'n them down to tight that could cause them to leak as well, i think that might be the main problem here man. Nice choice on DC headers though

i figgured it would be better in the long run then ebay headers. ill haha cut down on the torque. btw the stats on your accord are niiice. i thought about boosting my f22b2 but decided to build it N/A instead. id love to be boosted tho.. I want to SC mine, but they dont make a kit.

theres no such thing as bad luck everything can be fixed. just tighten them bolts down to where it usually stop and doesnt require much more muscle to turn anymore. or someone on here might know that exact torque specs i cant remember or have my manual handy.

no kit that i know of on the super charger, but thanks for the compliment, it took awhile to get to this point man, i use to have the header/exhaust/intake setup before and its like night and day man. haha.

As far as the impact over hand tools, if your breakin a socket to tighten it down you prolly got close to 100lbs of torque if not more! haha jk, but seriously i think your just torquen them down to tight in turn possibley crackin the gasket.
