Default 1992 Accord LX auto trans...again.

history, blinking d4-replaced TCM, worked for a while then started going into safe mode again (skipping gears). Cleaned transmission solenoids, worked for a while then again started going into safe mode. Replaced solenoids and it worked and went w/out the d4 blinking or tranny going into safe mode. Ran great! However this coincided w/much cooler weather. Now that it's hot outside we have blinking d4 and safe mode again after the car has been driven for a while or in other words, heats up. Clearly this is heat related and possibly some gunky transmission fluid could be to blame too (clogging the trans. solenoids maybe?). I'm going to change the transmission fluid and see if that helps.

Any other suggestions?

Changed transmission fluid, still getting blinking D4 after warm up.

What next?

Final desperate bump

Fwiw, the "new" solenoids were used, but clicked well when straight wired vs the old solenoids which barely clicked. So I know the solenoids are good. Today it took much longer to drop into limp/safe mode and it was nearly 100 degrees outside. Maybe the new fluid helped, but I think my heat theory stands. It takes appx 20 mins of driving before D4 blinks and we're in safe mode again. *shrug* If the transmission can be fixed we may reconsider selling the car as the only thing wrong after that is the A/C, which is a much easier fix but not worth it if we can't fix the transmission.

a somewhat old thread, but pretty relevant to my cause. my brother has a 1992 model as well and his car does the same thing - mostly in cool weather or rain - but nonetheless it happens, would appreciate any input.

thanks.
